1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using CheckinRules ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Service Description
CheckinRules provides workflow automation for short-term rental hosts to collect pre-arrival house rule acknowledgments from guests. The Service captures signed electronic acknowledgments, timestamps, and audit trails to support dispute resolution and operational diligence.
CheckinRules is not legal advice, legal protection, or insurance. The Service does not replace your rental agreement, local regulations, or counsel. You are solely responsible for the content of your rules and compliance with applicable law.
3. User Accounts
You must register for an account to use host features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. You must provide accurate registration information and keep it current.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Acceptable Use Policy. You may cancel your subscription at any time from billing settings; you may permanently delete your account from account danger zone settings.
4. Acceptable Use
Your use of the Service must comply with our separate Acceptable Use Policy, incorporated by reference into these Terms.
5. Subscription and Billing
Paid plans are billed per property per month (or as described on our pricing page) through Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You authorize us to charge your payment method on each billing cycle.
Refunds: We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel, access continues through the end of the current paid period unless you delete your account, which may end access immediately per our deletion flow.
6. Service Availability
We strive to keep the Service available but provide it on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, uninterrupted access, or error-free operation. Scheduled maintenance and outages may occur without liability.
7. Data Ownership
You retain ownership of your data (properties, bookings, guest information, templates, verifications, and related content). We provide tools to export and delete your data. Our use of your data to operate the Service is described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual Property
CheckinRules owns the platform, software, branding, and documentation. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive license to use the Service for your internal business purposes during your subscription.
You grant us a license to use, store, process, and display your content solely to provide and improve the Service, comply with law, and enforce our policies.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHECKINRULES AND ITS AFFILIATES ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR LOST PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CheckinRules from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your properties, guest interactions, or violation of these Terms or applicable law.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate the relationship at any time. You may cancel your subscription or delete your account. We may suspend or terminate access for breach, risk, or business reasons. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends; data handling is governed by our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Oregon for disputes arising from these Terms.
13. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms with an updated "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify account holders by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
